Win a prestigious award for your school by demonstrating exciting and innovative use of ICT.
Last year 131 schools from the 12 Local Authorities in the Northern Grid region entered our annual awards. Thirty-three schools were either winners or received certificates as highly commended schools. All schools were recognised as Centres of Excellence. Winners received great prizes at the Northern Grid ICT Awards Ceremony at the Northern Grid for Learning Conference 2008
Schools in the North East region are once again being offered an opportunity to enter these prestigious regional awards for ICT. They will provide a showcase for your school, its teachers and pupils together with the chance to win a valuable ICT prize donated by national hardware and software developers.
Winning schools will receive awards and prizes at a presentation ceremony. The short-listed schools in each category will be invited to attend the presentation, have lunch at a prestigious venue and be offered a chance to display their work during the presentation ceremony.
The date and venue of the presentation ceremony will be confirmed at a later date.
The closing date for the awards is 27th February 2009
One year ago, we set out in The Children’s Plan our ambition to make England the best place in the world for children and young people to grow up. World-class schools and world-class standards are central to achieving this vision. It is because every child deserves a great education that we are taking the next steps to making it a reality. We have now produced two linked documents that set out further information and invite feedback. The first describes how the entire school system will need to change, and how individual schools will need to look beyond traditional boundaries, be outwards facing and work in close partnership with young people, parents, other schools, colleges, universities and with other children's services. Views are sought on how we can best achieve this. The second document is about School Report Cards, and seeks input on the principles that should govern the report cards.

We have blocked a website called sparklebox. We have reason to believe that a risk may arise from this site.
I have raised this with the NG board of directors and received their support.
Our advice is that this site remains blocked for the foreseeable future.
